Topic of Islam in the Teaching of Basics of Civics and Social Sciences

The diploma thesis consists of a theoretical and a practical part. The first part deals with the theory in the form of a basic and brief introduction into the subject of Islam from the religious and anthropological point of view. Similarly, Czech society's perception of Islam is discussed as well as expert's and general public's estimation of teaching about Islam. Subsequently, the characteristics of stated educational topic and its placement into the broader context of education will be dealt with, the Framework Educational Program will be used as a means of comparison. The teaching of the stated topic and the controversy of it will be specified. In the practical part of the thesis, a qualitative research will be carried out, followed by its interpretation, which will take place with the participation of high school teachers. The diploma thesis will be focused on the identification of various concepts of teaching of this topic, it will attempt to critically view and formulate the recommendation for the current issues of the teaching of Islam, for it is a present topic that should not be omitted within the Citizenship Education. Cross-curricular Links between Basics of Civics and Social Sciences and French Language

This Master thesis focuses on connecting school subjects to overcome the isolation of information that students obtain through them. First of all, the thesis describes the different forms of school subject integration and lists the positive outcomes to which this integration leads, as well as the reasons why any form of interdisciplinarity concerning school subjects could be demanding. While any sort of integration could be challenging because of the timetables or the teachers' workload, it is beneficial. The students can realize the connections between information that they acquire, and this leads to better retention of the knowledge. Plus, they feel more motivated because they can use facts from one subject in another one. Then, the main goal of this thesis is presented - to search for cross-curricular links between French language as a foreign language and Basics of Civics or Social Sciences. In order to do so, the thesis details their subject didactics and the goals of these school subjects. Based on their description and the analysis of their respective textbooks, their common themes emerge, and they can be used for further integration. The method of storytelling and its application in the Civics

This master thesis focuses on topics of narrativity, stories and the art storytelling, while fixing the biggest attention on the storytelling method - as a narratively-dramatical field of arts. The storytelling method stands in the very focal point of this thesis and its potentiality in the field of didactics and education are being examined - concerning specifically the school subject of the Civics. In this master thesis, two chapters have been designed - a philosophical one, and a didactics-concerning one. In the first chapter, narrativity has been analysed as an anthropological and philosophical phenomenon and viewed from the phenomenological perspective. In this part of the master thesis, the essential significance of narrativity, stories and storytelling for the human life, human experience and the capabilities of education have been expressed and emphasized. In the second chapter, the variety of narrative forms has been outlined and the storytelling method has also been introduced. The methodology has been presented and the process of the preparations for a storytelling performance has been described in this part of the master thesis. The Disinformation as a Topic of Media Education and Its Integration into the Teaching Humanities

This diploma thesis deals with the topic of fake news, which is presented as a current and crucial issue of contemporary media discourse. In the initial part of the thesis, the notion of disinformation is described and embedded into the context of related media concepts. The thesis deals with introducing possible consequences of media and misinformation influence for individuals and society. Description of fake news uncovering and coping techniques is also presented. Furthermore, the topic of disinformation is introduced in the context of media and media education, and the influence of media, including fake news, on people and their process of socialization is depicted. Principles which lead the brain to believe misinformation are also covered. In the final part of the thesis, the topic of disinformation is described in relation to humanities and elementary and secondary education framework program. Moreover, the importance and current nature of the topic of fake news is accented in the thesis. The last chapter features educational projects and organizations which cover fake news and their detection, and which can be of use to students and teachers alike. Implementation of Didactic Game in Teaching of Basics of Civics and Social Sciences in the area Citizens in a State

This diploma thesis focuses on didactic games and their use during the lessons of social sciences at grammar schools. It mainly deals with the area of political science. The thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part looks into a didactic game itself, its significance for people, its role in education and the philosophical approach to didactic games. Not only a game from the didactic point of view, but also project teaching, which is closely related to this topic, are covered. The practical part is based on monitoring of selected schools. This part focuses on preparation of particular teaching topics and their subsequent analysis from the teachers' point of view. Didactic analysis of the topic of civic and political participation

The diploma thesis deals with the concept of civic and political participation in elementary and secondary school. Introductory part of the thesis defines terms of civic and political participation, there are also findings about civic attitudes of young Czechs based on international comparative researches. The focus of the thesis is to analyze the representation of the theme of participation at different levels of the Czech education system and to compare the concept of the theme in curriculum documents of selected states. This is followed by an analysis of the approach to the topic of participation by authors of approved Czech textbooks. The analyzes show that the theme of participation is insufficiently embedded in the Czech national curriculum and these deficiencies are reflected in the approach to the topic in school educational programs and textbooks. In the light of these findings, a didactic analysis of the topic of participation is carried out. The diploma thesis sets down the theoretical minimum for a given topic. The last part presents proposals of didactic procedures in teaching focused on topics of civic and political participation. Additionally, the thesis recommends projects of non-profit institutions and other initiatives that focus on selected aspects of the topic of participation.
